The Board of Directors of the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) is excited to add our enthusiastic congratulations and support for the appointment of Karhlton Moore as Director of the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice.

As a former NCJA President and the Executive Director of the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services, Mr. Moore brings vast experience and understanding of the needs of state and local administering agencies as well as practitioners to his role at BJA.

During his time in Ohio, his agency has served as a model for SAAs across the country. From his innovative Ohio Consortium of Crime Science to the implementation of the Ohio Community Initiative to Reduce Violence, and his work on human-trafficking and community-police relations Mr. Moore has shown he is a careful listener who solicits a range of perspectives to fund and implement innovative and effective programs that protect the community and save lives.

NCJA President Anne Jordan said, “Having worked with Karhlton for more than 15 years I know I speak for all my colleagues at NCJA when I say that his leadership, creative problem solving and good humor will serve the Bureau of Justice Assistance employees and stakeholders very well. We wish him the best in this new role.”
