What States Are Saying
Maryland
"The support and guidance provided by the National Criminal Justice Association (NCJA) and Allison Badger have been instrumental in helping Maryland’s Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy in the development of a 3 year Statewide Strategic Plan. NCJA's deep expertise, collaborative approach, and commitment to evidence-based practices have significantly strengthened our ability to align policy, funding and programming with our unique public safety priorities." "Through their technical assistance and facilitation, NCJA helped us engage diverse stakeholders, identify pressing needs and develop a comprehensive strategic plan that is both practical and forward-thinking. Their team brought invaluable insight into federal funding opportunities, operational improvements, best practices and data-driven decision-making, ensuring our planning process was not only inclusive but also impactful." "We have subsequently engaged with NCJA on several other projects, including a task force examining restraint related in-custody deaths and a strategic planning session for the Baltimore City Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. We look forward to a long relationship, utilizing NCJA’s staff expertise to position our state to better serve our communities and improve outcomes across the criminal justice system."
Nebraska
"The Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice collaborated with the National Criminal Justice Association on several projects since the fall of 2024. The Crime Commission has taken several steps to engage our stakeholder organizations and criminal justice partners. Focused improvements associated with the delivery of grant programming and the identification of strategies to evaluate the return on investment issues associated with criminal justice dollars is central to Governor Jim Pillen’s commitment to maximize government services for Nebraskans. A focus report developed by NCJA garnered key information and priorities based on stakeholder surveys and listening sessions. The NCJA team played an integral role in developing the tools and resources to solicit information and publish the report. NCJA followed through with efforts to prioritize key issues and refine strategies with the development of a gap analysis report. The goal was to assess challenges related to the availability of mental health resources in Nebraska. Finally, NCJA will continue to collaborate with the Crime Commission to develop a grant training manual that will assist staff and subgrantees with grant management requirements. The professional approach of the NCJA team coupled with their remarkable skillsets resulted in a body of work that will improve outcomes for criminal justice programming in Nebraska."
