Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Service
Please describe how your agency is structured
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is an agency in the Executive Branch of Virginia government. The agency is in the public safety secretariat along with other public safety agencies including the Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice and Department of Emergency Management. DCJS is the SAA for Virginia for federal criminal justice grant funding. The agency is divided into 5 divisions: Administration, Law Enforcement, Licensure and Regulation, Programs and Services, and Public Safety Training and School and Campus Safety. Almost all grant funding directed to public safety in Virginia is managed by DCJS. DCJS is also the agency where criminal justice programs and initiatives go that don’t fit neatly into other public safety agencies.
