Two Crawford County, Ar., Sheriff’s deputies are suspended and a Mulberry, Ar., police officer was placed on leave, after a video showing a beaten man surfaced on social media. The Arkansas State Police are investigating the incident that took place about 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. Randall Worcester, 27, of Goose Creek, S.C., is seen under two deputies and a Mulberry police officer outside a convenience store in Mulberry, the Fort Smith Times Record reports. The video shows three officers on top of a man who is punched in the head and kneed several times. An officer points at the person with the camera and orders it turned off.
After being treated at a hospital, Worcester was jailed on charges of second degree burglary, resisting arrest, refusal to submit, possessing an instrument of crime, criminal trespass, criminal mischief, terroristic threatening, and second degree assault. Police in Alma had reported a man who threatened convenience store employees before riding a bicycle to Mulberry. The state police said its investigation will be limited to the use of physical force by the deputies and police officer, and the results will be sent to the Crawford County prosecuting attorney to determine whether the officers' use of force was lawful.
