Data & Computational Research

In selecting projects for funding, the Foundation seeks proposals for original initiatives led by outstanding individuals or teams. We are interested in projects that have a high expected return to society, exhibit a high degree of methodological rigor, and for which funding from the private sector, government, or other foundations is not yet widely available. Grant making in this area aims to: 1) support the efficient management and sharing of research data and code from acquisition through analysis; and 2) grow the current and future scientific data work force. ??Grants in this program tend to fall into four broad types: a) software grants; b) training grants; c) research grants; and d) community grants.
