State Agencies
This category of membership consists of the members representing the
states who are appointed by the governor of the state or territory or by
the mayor of the District of Columbia as Criminal Justice System
Representatives (CJSR) and who are the full-time senior level
employees of the state whose responsibility is the direction of systemic
criminal justice planning, coordination, management, research, training,
and/or technical assistance.
The benefits of this membership include:
• A seat on the NCJA governing body, the Advisory Council
• Ability to influence national policy through consultation
with Congressional leaders and administration officials
• Opportunity to participate in national symposia and
conferences
• A subscription to Justice Bulletin,
NCJA's weekly newsletter
• A subscription to InfoLetter*, a weekly summary of
Congressional and Federal activities affecting state, tribal and local
criminal and juvenile justice delivered by e-mail
• A subscription to Short Takes, a bimonthly
publication containing funding availability for justice initiatives by
Federal agencies and private foundations and organizations. This
is published twice per month.
• The opportunity to provide national leadership in shaping
the future of the American justice system through interaction with
other state and tribal justice leaders and participation in NCJA
activities and committees
• Opportunity to be elected the NCJA board of directors
• Discounts on NCJA's national and regional conferences and
forums for staff of state agency represented by the CJSR
• Access to research by the NCJA staff and use of the NCJA
Washington, D.C. office
• Access to the members only section of the NCJA web
site.
• State membership also include subscriptions and website access
for a select number of agency employees depending upon dues level.
* The InfoLetter is provided as a benefit to the Advisory
Council, tribal government, and nonprofit members of the National
Criminal Justice Association. Other circulation of the InfoLetter
may be done only with the permission of the National Criminal Justice
Association.
