Nominations Sought for Regional Representatives to the NCJA Advisory
Council
The NCJA Elections Committee is seeking nominations from the
membership for regional representatives to the NCJA Advisory Council.
The Advisory Council assists the NCJA Board of Directors in the control
and direction of the policy, purposes, and activities of the
association. The Advisory Council also selects board members and NCJA
officers from the Council membership each year.

The Advisory Council will meet on August 1 before the 2010 NCJA
National Forum on Criminal Justice and Public Safety, August 1-3, at
Sanibel Harbour Resort in Ft. Myers, Florida, and will elect officers
and the Board of Directors at that time. The regional
representatives are elected for a term of one year and may serve
consecutive terms. A minimum of three regional representatives are
elected to the Advisory Council from the membership of each region; a
fourth regional representative may be elected from the Tribal government
members in the region.
The four regions are:
• Northeastern: CT, DC, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, NJ, NY, PA, RI and
VT.
• Southern: AL, AR, FL, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, OK, PR, SC, TN, TX,
VA, VI and WV.
• Midwestern: IL, IN, IA, KS, MI, MN, MO, NE, ND, OH, SD and
WI.
• Western: AK, AS, AZ, CA, CO, GU, HI, ID, MT, NV, NM, MP, OR, UT,
WA and WY.
Nominees must be current dues paying individual, public agency or
Indian tribal government members from the nominator’s region in
order to be placed on the ballot. If there is a question whether

Northeast/South/Midwest/West
Any form may be used to nominate a member as long as it identifies
the region, the nominee, the nominee’s state, telephone/fax
numbers and email address, and the nominating member, his or her state,
telephone/fax numbers and email address. All nominations should be
accompanied by a short biographical sketch of the nominee with at a
minimum the nominee’s present position and responsibilities,
background, and education. Members may submit as many nominations as
they desire.

The nominations may be mailed, emailed, faxed, or provided by
telephone to the NCJA office. Nominations made by telephone must be
followed in writing by mail, email, or fax to the NCJA office.
All nominations must be received at the NCJA office no later
than 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, Friday, April 16, 2010, which is
also the deadline for becoming an NCJA member in order to participate in
the 2010 election for regional representatives.
